How do I Use the Business Card Scanner in the Mobile App?

Scanning Business Cards to Add Contacts

The CareFunnels mobile app includes a built-in business card scanner that lets you create a new contact instantly — no manual entry needed.

How to scan a card

You can start a scan from three places in the app:

  • On the Contacts page, tap the + icon, then tap Scan Business Card

  • On the contact creation screen, tap the scan icon in the top right corner

  • Tap the bolt (quick actions) button and select Scan Business Card

Once the scanner is open, hold your phone steady and position the card within the on-screen rectangle. The app will automatically pull the contact details from the card.

After scanning, review the fields before saving. If anything was captured incorrectly, you can drag the chips at the bottom of the screen to reassign text to the right field, or edit manually with your keyboard. When everything looks good, tap Save to add the contact.

A few tips for best results

  • Place the card on a flat, high-contrast surface

  • Scan in good lighting and avoid glare or shadows

  • If a scan fails, try again — accuracy can vary depending on card design or font style

Good to know

The app does not save an image of the card after the contact is created. Only the contact information itself is stored. New contacts added this way will appear in your Contacts tab and sync to your CareFunnels CRM automatically.

After a scan, you'll see chips appear along the bottom of the screen — these are pieces of text the app pulled from the card. If something landed in the wrong field (for example, a job title got placed in the name field), you can drag the relevant chip to the correct field to fix it without retyping. Once everything is mapped correctly, tap Save to create the contact.

Frequently Asked Questions

What should I do if the card doesn't scan correctly or misses information?
Always double-check the scanned fields before saving. Accuracy can vary based on card design, fonts, or lighting. If the scan fails completely, try again under better lighting or on a plain background.

Does the scanner store a copy of the card image?
No — once the contact is saved, the scanned image is not retained. Only the contact data is saved in your CRM.

Is there a way to improve scan accuracy?
Place the card on a flat, high-contrast background with good lighting, avoid glare or shadows, and hold your phone steady when capturing.

Where can I find contacts saved from the business card scanner?
After saving, the new contact is added to your Contacts tab and synced to your CRM account, where you can view and manage it like any other contact.
