Set Up a New Phone Number in CareFunnels

Adding a new phone number in CareFunnels is a simple but critical step for your communication workflows. This number will be used for making and receiving calls, as well as sending and receiving SMS messages from within the platform.

Step 1: Navigate to Phone Number Settings

  1. Log in to your CareFunnels account.

  2. In the main menu, navigate to Settings.

  3. Click on Phone Numbers in the left-hand menu.

Step 2: Add a New Phone Number

  1. On the "Phone Numbers" page, click the "+ Add Number" button at the top right, then select "Add Phone Number".

Step 3: Search for and Select Your Number

  1. You'll be prompted to choose a country and a number type (local or toll-free).

  2. Use the search bar and filters to find a phone number with your desired area code or a specific number sequence. You can filter by:

    • Area Code: Enter the three-digit area code you want to search for.

    • Digits/Phrases: Search for a specific sequence of numbers.

    • Capabilities: Filter for numbers with SMS, MMS, or Voice capabilities.

    • Number Type: Choose between local or toll-free.

  3. Once you find a number you want, click on it to select it.

Step 4: Submit Verification

  1. For the first time you buy a phone number, CareFunnels will require you to submit a verification. The system will require you to send a picture of your driver’s license and a picture of your face to confirm. Once this step is completed, it doesn’t need to be done again in the future

Step 5: Purchase the Number

  1. After selecting your number, click "Proceed to Buy" to complete the transaction. The cost of the number will be deducted from your account's communication credits.

  2. Once purchased, the number will appear in your list of active phone numbers on the "Phone Numbers" page.

Step 5: Configure the Phone Number 

Once the number is active, you can configure its settings by clicking the three-dot action menu next to the number and selecting "Edit Configuration." From here, you can:

  • Forward calls: Set a number where incoming calls will be forwarded. This is useful if you want to answer calls from a personal cell phone or an office line.

  • Call recording: You need to turn this option on for calls to be recorded in CareFunnels.


Pro tip

Always give every number a clear, descriptive friendly name as soon as you add it. With multiple numbers in your account, it becomes very hard to manage them if they're not labeled clearly from the start.


Common questions

What's the difference between a local number and a toll-free number? A local number has a specific area code that matches your region — which can feel more familiar and trustworthy to local callers. A toll-free number (like an 888 or 800 number) works nationwide and has no area code tied to a specific location.

How much does a phone number cost? There is a small monthly fee per number, plus low per-minute and per-message usage fees. Contact your CareFunnels account manager for current pricing details.

Can I delete a phone number I no longer need? Yes. From the Phone Numbers list, click the three-dot menu next to the number and select the option to remove it. Be careful — make sure the number isn't actively being used before deleting it.

What does "Verified" or "A2P Verified" mean next to a number? Verified means the number has been approved for sending text messages under carrier regulations. A2P (Application-to-Person) verification is required by phone carriers to allow businesses to send texts at scale. If a number shows "Verification Required," reach out to your CareFunnels account manager to get it resolved.
