05 - Using the Lost and Abandon Stages

Edited

Not every lead will become a client or caregiver. The Lost and Abandoned stages in CareFunnels give you a clear, organized way to close out leads that you can’t move forward — without cluttering your active pipeline.

When to Use “Lost”

Move a lead to Lost if:

  • They are outside of your service area

  • They have already signed with another company

  • They clearly communicate that they are not interested

This stage helps you keep records of these leads without wasting time on future follow-up.

When to Use “Abandon”

Move a lead to Abandon if:

  • You have made multiple attempts to contact them over a reasonable period (e.g., several calls or follow-ups in 1–2 weeks)

  • They never respond and show no engagement

  • You have exhausted your outreach attempts

This stage essentially closes the loop on unresponsive leads, giving you a clean pipeline.

Why These Stages Matter

  • Keeps your pipeline accurate: Only active, workable opportunities remain in progress.

  • Provides historical data: You’ll still have records of lost or abandoned leads for reporting or future reference.

  • Saves time: Your team can focus on leads with real potential rather than chasing dead ends.

Tip: Be consistent in how you use these stages. Document the reason (e.g., “Out of service area” or “No response after 5 attempts”) in the contact record so your team has context.
